I live and breathe computers, I’m no newbie when it comes to computers, i work as a support specialist right now and am in school to become an IT Network Technician. I have just purchased a LG Blue ray recorder for my pc and it will not work in windows. the drive functions 100% outside of windows as far as reading CD’s. Has anybody had this issue, i have uninstalled it and reinstalled it, researched the internet with no results. I have a GTX 275 GPU and intel P4 HT 3.00 GHz CPU which doesn’t meet min requirements but I know will handle it flawlessly. I sincerely doubt the drive knows the cpu isn’t a 3.2 pentium dual core or better and because of that isn’t working. Is there anybody with an idea or answer??

If it takes 30 gigabytes to record a High definition Video then isn’t it really necessary to record it on a Blue Ray DVD which has 25 gigabytes of memory as opposed to just the 4.6 gigabytes memory it is normally compacted to?
ANyway, most movies are recorded on a 4.6 gig DVD anyway right? So what makes the BLUE RAY so special or practical?

The Blue Ray player I want is $300,but I can get PS3 for $100 more.
I know the PS3 has more options….but is the actual Blue Ray player mechanism just as good as this Samsung BDP 1600?

Well Blue Ray won but I won’t switch formats until a blue ray RECORDER sells for under $100.00.

Why? because they trying to force people to stop “You know what” and I say scre.w them.

oh and by the way EGM(Electronic Gaming Monthly) says 2008 will be the year for the PS3.

But I’m hooked on Mass Effect and drooling for Ninja Gaiden 2.

I NEVER cared for Metal Gear,Gran Turismo(driving games bore me),

Final Fantasy(Mass Effect let’s me create a main character that looks like me),

or Kill Zone(Which is a Halo wanna be).

So the PS3 don’t have any games to excite me.I’m a picky gamer at 60 bucks a pop these days you have to be.

Will the blue ray cd’s be compatible with other Sony camcorders? I am not very familiar with this. Basically what I am trying to say is that I have a mini dvd recorder which only records for 30 minutes. I am wondering if you can use the blue ray discs and record for longer periods of time or if they will be compatible? thanks

I know many people have asked the same question, and it is told to eject the drive, and look what is says.

Mine says:
- Blu-ray disc
-super multi blue
- dvd multi recorder

Does this mean i can only read/burn Blu-rays, and not duallayers?

My cable company charges too much for DVR, so I think I should get a DVD recorder… maybe a Samsung? Or what is a good make?

Component meaning YPbPr, analog high def 720p/1080i, three RCA cables usu. Red, Green, and Blue if I remember right. I’m NOT asking about Blu-Ray or HD-DVD, because those high definition technologies are still establishing themselves. I know that DVDs can only carry 480p.

Also, any receiver/DVD recorder combos out there?
Yeah, but my device sends an SD signal through a component interface, so I would like it to be able to connect to the DVD recorder with a component in.

I have a Phillips television, a panasonic pt 954 home theater, a ps3, and I have a samsung dvd recorder vcr combo. I cannot see how to get all of these to play nicely together. My tv appears to have no outs of any kind and my surround has only one in and that is your basic left and right audio connection. I want to be able to put a blue ray movie into my ps3 and watch it on the tv and hear it through the surround and the ps3 uses EITHER the hdmi connection OR the a/v connection not both. So I am wondering if there is a selector out there that will allow for four or five hdmi and component inputs with an audio and hdmi output so I can run my video from any of my sources to the tv but still have the option to run my audio to the surround with the regular red and white audio cable. Oh, and I am about to get a high definition comcast box too and will want to tie that in also.
